I've been feeling a little bummed out lately. I feel like i'm not doing enough with my time. Like i'm wasting precious time and that I could be possibly doing so much more now. My convenient posting in NS right now as a Staff officer has allowed me to actually do so much more than what others would be able to do with their time. Yet i'm not taking advantage of it.
I've got a little more than a year to uni. This time is really the best time to try new things, experiment and gain really worthwhile experiences.
Well for one, in consolation, I've been volunteering with the Macpherson Tuition Project which has been quite fulfilling actually. Although i have yet to really take on a more proactive role in my student's studies. Which I plan to do.
I think there are a few things I want to get done before university. I think this period is crucial in determining many things. It's the best time to learn new skills and pick up new trades. Thus I urge everyone if time in NS permits, to take up your own project or if you are of the less ambitious type, simply picking up a new skill would suffice.
There are several things I'm considering right now:
1. HTML 5 and CSS - try CodeAcademy It's pretty fun and easy to learn. I've tried it and I recommend this even for the coding newbie.
2. Learn scuba diving.
3. Pick up Arduino - http://arduino.cc/en/
4. Start my own little start-up entrepreneurship with some friends. - We've got some pretty decent ideas. Now it all hinges on whether we want to attempt this and give it a try. Money has to be sunk in first though.
5. Invest! I think with the amount i have saved up from NS. It's a comfortable amount to start. But much research and risk assessment need to be done.
Trips/Travels!:
1. Colorado and California with Signal guys! :D
2. Eurotrip with SAJCPEEPS
3. Maybe cambodia/vietnam/burma with anyone interested in backpacking..
More importantly, university applications are coming up again.
I think i'm more or less settled on Computer Science in the US. I need to start my applications soon and aim to retake my SATs in OCT/NOV/DEC.
I've narrowed down my choices: 1. UCBerkely 2. UIUC 3. Stanford 4. Georgie Tech 5. U-Michigan
and moving on, found really good music lately.
go check out The Royal Concept! :D
